Are you grieving the loss of a family member or friend? Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church offers a ministry to help those who are grieving the loss of a family member or friend through the grieving process. The ministry is called GriefShare. GriefShare is a network of thousands of grief recovery support groups meeting worldwide. All who are grieving are invited to participate; however, non-Christians who participate must understand and accept that GriefShare is a Christ-centered ministry. We stress the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ as the foundation for healing. We believe that healing of this kind can only come from God’s presence in the life of a person experiencing the pain of grief, and that this presence comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
GriefShare is based on the Bible. We view the Bible as the "owner’s manual" for life. We believe the Bible provides direction from God as a source of real-world, practical answers to the difficult issues of life, including the loss of loved ones. These concepts are presented in a sensitive, compassionate manner and will be of interest even to nonbelievers and people not familiar with biblical concepts.
GriefShare is a 13-session program. Each session is designed around 3 components; (1) a video seminar, (2) group discussion and (3) a participant workbook with daily exercises for each of the 13 sessions. While it is desirable for participants to attend all 13 sessions, each weekly session is designed such that a person can begin attending at any time. Participants will find comfort, answers and hope in every session.
If you are grieving, we encourage you to participate. If you know others who are grieving that would benefit from the ministry, please inform them of the ministry. Mt. Calvary offers three 13-session programs per year. Contact Rod Morrill (rodmorrill2@gmail.com) or Danielle Grosse (intadvun@gunnison.com) for additional information.
